Zimbabwe SADC Water Week – 17 to 19 March 2015, Harare, Zimbabwe.

The SADC Water Division under the auspices of the Infrastructure and Services Directorate in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Climate (MEWC), Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWP SA) and Zimbabwe Water Partnership (ZWP) held the Zimbabwe SADC Water Week at Rainbow Towers in Harare from 17 to 19 March 2015 under the theme ‘From Vision to Action’.

The main goal of the SADC Water Weeks was to support SADC to implement a platform to interact with member states on water resources management strategic issues. The first day, was devoted to the National Youth Water Forum and the Media Training. The youth forum had representatives from high schools, universities, government institutions and NGOs. For the media training, local journalists were trained on reporting water issues at all levels.

The main outcome of the Water Week was a Regional Strategic and Action Plan (RSAP) IV, which was set to update the RSAP III. The current focus of the SADC Water Division is on infrastructure, and so it was important for member states, including Zimbabwe to pay close attention to this new dimension.
