Central Asian Regional Water Network (CAR@WAN) with the support of UNESCO Cluster Office in Almaty, in cooperation with national partners, organized presentation of the United Nations World Water Development Report 2016 “Water and jobs”, devoted to the celebration of World Water Day, in three countries of Central Asian region.
- March 31, 2016 – Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan;
- April 4, 2016 – Almaty, Kazakhstan;
- April 5, 2016 – Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Events were organized in the format of seminars and conferences, and were attended by representatives of government officials of all levels, research and educational institutions, international and non-governmental organizations, as well as independent experts. Organizers also provided an opportunity for young professionals and students to take part in events and become familiar with the data presented in the report, which they can use in their further professional and research activities.
During the presentations, local experts presented main findings of the Report as well as its relevance to Central Asian countries. Participants also discussed current issues of higher education in the field of water resources, problems of access to water and sanitation, water availability in the region, as well as gender aspects of water resources management in their countries.
All participants highlighted the importance of the Report and the data presented in it, as well as a high level of organization of events. Events were widely covered by local and regional mass media. ')}
