On September 19, persons interested in learning ecosystem restoration solutions can access a free online course offered by The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and other partners.
The two-part Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) will enable government representatives to create a blueprint towards preventing, halting, and reversing the degradation of ecosystems at the national or subnational level. The course is available in English, French and Spanish.
Part 1 of the course will introduce ecosystem restoration from September 19 to October 9, 2022. Part 2, which runs from October 17 to November 20, will cover ecosystem restoration interventions.
The course will also introduce the Short-Term Action Plan on Ecosystem Restoration (STAPER) — a flexible framework which supports governments in implementing their national restoration strategies.
Participants will receive certificates of completion at the end of each part of the course. Participants who complete both parts of the course will acquire three of the six credits required in the “Ecological Restoration” category of the Society for Ecological Restoration‘s (SER) Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner (CERP) programme.
