The 193-Member United Nations General Assembly formally adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on 25th of September 2015. This new development agenda is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity which also seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom. All countries, in collaborative partnerships will implement the agenda which declares the means of implementation as global partnership. Many of the targets of SDGs are closely linked to water resources management as water remains a key resource that connects with food, energy, and environment. Goal 6 specifically aims to “ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”. Cap-Net in its 13 years of capacity development, has taken an enormous leap forward to develop and deliver knowledge on sustainable water management for all as contribution in the achievement of SDG 6 and other interlinked goals and targets. With the adoption of SDGs, Cap-Net UNDP reiterates its focus and commitment from now till 2030 on capacity development “empowering individuals: enabling environments”. The partnerships and networking will remain as the core implementation approach for knowledge development and capacity development delivery.
