Regional Seminar on Advanced Training of the ‘Safety of the hydro-technical constructions for water specialists of Kazakhstan’ – 7 to 9 September 2017, Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The Regional Seminar on Advanced Training of the “Safety of the hydro-technical constructions for water specialists of Kazakhstan” took place from 7 to 9 September 2017 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. This seminar was conducted with the cooperation of IFAS, Kazakh National Agrarian University and other donors dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination (ICWC) and the preparation for the 8th World Water Forum (March 2018, Brazil).

The main of the objective of seminar was to organise capacity building and promotion awareness raising among stakeholder of water conservation and Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM); melioration and irrigated agriculture; agricultural water supply and watering of pastures, use of renewable energy sources; agri-ecology and environmental protection in water management facilities, the safety of the Hydropower Station and prevention of emergencies in the context of the climate change.

The seminar was taken part by representatives of water professionals, of the basin organizations, international and regional non-governmental organizations, research institutes, members of the Network CAR@WAN, with the participation of an international expert and representatives of state bodies of Central Asia.

Within the framework of the seminar, the participants also visited a modern laboratory in the Kazakh National Agrarian of University and the Hydropower Station – 1 in Medeu, Almaty.
