Inauguration of Cap-Net Secretariat’s New Office

Cap-Net global secretariat recently moved into a new office co-located with the Rio+ Centre, the World Centre for Sustainable Development. The new office located at the heart of the city, Central of Rio de Janeiro offering excellent working conditions and is a partnership between the State of Rio de Janeiro and Rio+ Centre/UNDP. The inauguration of the new premise held on 24th September welcoming everyone by Dr. Rômulo Paes de Sousa, the Director of RIO+ Centre. Ceremony honored by the participation of Mr. Jorge Chediek, UN coordinator Brazil and UN resident representative in Brazil (on his departure after 5 years in Brazil). Representatives from United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), United Nations office for disaster risk reduction (UNISDR), German consulate, Secretaría Estado da Casa Civil, and many other organizations attended the celebration.

Mr. Pedro Spadale from Secretaria Estado da Casa Civil mentioned the Cap-Net’s capacity development as an important effort to educate people for water resources management. The speeches by chief guests emphasized and appreciated the partnerships and commitments to establish the new office and also entering into the sustainable development agenda. In close partnership with Rio+ Centre, Cap-Net UNDP network poise to deliver on SDG commitments through its wide partnerships and affiliated networks that are dedicated to capacity development for sustainable water management.
