Caribbean WaterNet head joins global organizing committee for island-focused water conference

Dr. Ronald Roopnarine has been announced as a member of the international organizing body for a water meeting focused on island communities.

Dr. Roopnarine is a seasoned water professional who heads Caribbean WaterNet, one of 23 affiliated networks of Cap-Net UNDP. This network aims to improve attitudes, awareness,  knowledge and competency in the implementation of IWRM and Hydro-Climatic Disaster Risk Management in the Caribbean.

In September 2024, the member-based International Water Resources Association will host its first ever Islands Water Congress in the Faroe Islands, focusing a lens on water challenges and opportunities for island-based water professionals.

With his experience, Dr. Roopnarine will help shape the programme of activities that will formulate topics and idea exchange around freshwater management in the islands.
