Join us on the webinar series that set out contributions to strengthen climate and water linkages in national frameworks including NDCs, NAPs and various investment mechanisms.
The webinars “Water and Climate Coordination: Supporting the NDCs and future implementation under the Paris Agreement” are jointly developed by Cap-Net, UNDP, Global Water Partnership, AGWA, SIWI and the Water Governance Facility.
What is the aim of the sessions?
As a consortium of partners, we want to highlight climate and water inter-linkages and contribute to improve the coordination across climate and water decision-makers and professionals; provide examples of coordination and implantation mechanisms and introduce the financing landscape of climate and water.
The first webinar on 18th February will address how improved cross-sector understanding and knowledge among climate and water decision-makers and professionals contribute to improved coordination between climate change and water decision-making. It will introduce a practical tool for identifying climate and water inter-linkages.
On 25th February, the second webinar will aim to share experiences in preparing documents that include climate change related activities, as well as their lessons from addressing commitments found in the first round of NDC’s. While it is generally recognised that water and water-related activities were included as priority activities in the first series of NDCs, with over 80% of NDCs containing water-related provision, there remain questions whether the priority in the NDC was matched during implementation.
The third and last webinar will happen on the 4th of March and it will build on the learnings of the first webinar that introduced the three main global climate finance mechanisms and their modalities. In this session the emphasis will be on the practicalities of securing finance, obtaining accreditation, and building adequate investment cases by using examples from successful entities.
All webinars will be held in Zoom, the link will be shared after your registration.
