Under the motto “Water policy under the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development”, the Federal Water Council (COHIFE), the Undersecretariat of Water Resources of the Nation (SSRH) and the Argentina Network for Training and Strengthening in Integrated Management Of Water Resources (Arg Cap-Net) organized the 3rd Water Policy Days.
The event will be held on 27 and 28 June 2017 at the Palacio de las Aguas Corrientes (Aysa), Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, with the objective of further progress in the analysis of the priority water issues in Argentina, Under the principles of integrated management of water resources and the objectives of the National Water Plan.
In this sense, different stakeholders related to water resources, such as politicians, officials, technicians, user organizations, basin organizations, study centers, non-governmental organizations and other related organisations are invited to participate.
“The 2nd Water Policy Conference was held 13 years ago with its motto ‘From vision to action’ and was the first great milestone reached by COHIFE in which it defined its agenda up to the present. This new edition is intended to discuss new topics and incorporate others. We will also strengthen the partnership with Arg Cap-Net, a network with which we have had a very good experience in organizing and developing the seminar workshop ‘Water Bank and Water Hazard’, held in the city of La Plata in 2016,” remarked Mario Rujana, president of COHIFE.
Thematic
The development of the 3rd Conference provides a space for conferences for the first day and work on commissions during the second, in order to arrive at conclusions that contribute to the planning of actions to be promoted from COHIFE.
Conference themes include challenges to water security; Challenges of the drinking water and sanitation sector; Water risk management; Hydropower in the framework of sustainable development; Institutional and legal framework for water resources management; Importance of water quality assessment and monitoring in water resources management; Evaluation and monitoring of water resources as a basis for their efficient management.
In the meantime, work on commissions will address issues related to institutional capacities and legal framework; Water risk management; Drinking water and sanitation; Management of interjurisdictional watersheds; Evaluation and monitoring of the quality of water resources.
