The UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development recognizes the enormous challenges that people face. It also recognizes the present as a moment of immense opportunity, marked by the diffusion of information and communication technology and global interconnection and its great potential to accelerate human progress and develop knowledge societies. In this context, water is essential for the three pillars of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental.
Following a path of more than 15 years of continuous capacity development, LA-WETnet in partnership with the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID), Inter American Development Bank, RALCEA Network (Latin America Network of Water Centres of Excellence), and CODIA (Iberoamerican Conference of Water Directors) will deliver a 5 day course on Sustainable Water Management.
The course, open to a maximum of 40 participants will be held between June 26 and 30 at the AECID Training Centre in Montevideo, Uruguay. Water governance principles, sustainable development, river basin strengthening, water and climate change, and transversal aspects as gender, human rights, and transparent are all part of the programme.
