Following a successful run, two online courses covering gender-inclusive and human rights-based approaches to Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) are set to re-open on the Cap-Net Virtual Campus on August 1.
Both courses are free of cost and can be completed at the participants’ own pace.
Gender and IWRM
In 2021, 900+ water professionals signed up for the Gender and IWRM course, prompting the decision to reopen the course for a new cohort to learn the benefits of integrating gender meaningfully in water management practices.
The course will equip participants with the tools required to fully integrate women and vulnerable participants when planning for water and sanitation, climate resilient measures, and inclusive participation in the water sector.
This course was jointly developed by Cap-Net UNDP, Global Water Partnership and the Gender and Water Alliance.
Human Rights-Based Approach to IWRM
Meanwhile, A Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA) to Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) unites two fields that were previously treated as separate concepts.
The re-launch of this introductory course expands on the main principles for a human rights-based approach to IWRM, as an essential condition to improve access to water and sanitation and achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Both courses are designed for stakeholders across the water sector, including water management professionals, members of United Nations (UN) organisations, Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) focal points, capacity developers amongst others.
Participants will receive a certificate at the end of the courses.
Other topics available on the Cap-Net Virtual Campus include climate resilience, circular cities and SDG 6.5.1 action planning and training for trainers.
