Training Course on Water Footprint Assessments for GCC and Arab Countries – 20 to 22 April 2015, Arabian Gulf University, Bahrain.

AWARENET, the Arab Integrated Water Resources Management Network, a Cap-Net regional network for capacity development in sustainable water management hosted by UN ESCWA, jointly with the Water, Science & Technology Association (WSTA), the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), the Middle East and North Africa Network of Water Centers of Excellence (MENA NWC), United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN ESCWA), and Cap-Net UNDP are jointly offering a Training Course “Water Footprint Assessment for GCC and Arab Countries” that is designed for professionals in the water and environmental sectors in GCC and Arab countries interested to learn about water footprint assessments. The training course will be conducted from 20 to 22 April 2015 which will be held at the Arabian Gulf University, Bahrain.

The training course addresses primarily government officials from the GCC countries, AWARENET members, MENA NWC member center staff and researchers as well as water managers, private sector, researchers and representatives from universities and non-governmental organizations involved in water and environmental management in GCC and Arab countries. The number of participants is limited to 30.

Confirmed participants from MENA NWC research centers will be invited to stay an additional day, 23 April 2015 for the development of research proposals.

For registration please fill and sign the enclosed ‘Expression of Interest form and submit it together with a short explanation of motivation by email to awarenet-escwa@un.org and info@menanwc.org latest by 13 March 2015.

In case of more than 30 expressions of Interest received, the AWARENET Secretariat in cooperation with WSTA, AGU, MENA NWC and UN ESCWA will select from the submissions, based on criteria such as AWARENET / MENA NWC membership, date of submission, motivation, possibilities to apply acquired knowledge in further activities at regional or national level, gender, geographic diversity, etc. Confirmed participants will be notified by AWARENET Secretariat latest by 20 March 2015.
