Report on Training programme on Water Diplomacy by Dr. Neena Rao (SCaN-South Asia Network Manager) – 23 to 28 June, 2014, MIT, Boston.

A training programme on Water Diplomacy was conducted at MIT, Boston from 23 to 28 June 2014. Dr. Themba Gumbo, Director of Cap-Net UNDP and Dr. Neena Rao, Network of SCaN were invited to attend this joint-learning workshop which was aimed at creating a global network of reflective water professionals as well as conveying key ideas and methods in their own countries and organizations respectively. The training focused on trans-boundary water issues and challenges from national and international context. The training programme was conducted through presentations and group discussions.

Water Diplomacy is one of the important thematic areas in Cap-Net’s strategy for 2014-17. Dr. Neena Rao has been selected by Cap-Net to lead a team for development of the training material on Water Diplomacy. In addition to that, Dr. Themba Gumbo and Dr. Neena Rao have also convened a meeting with faculties from Tufts and MIT on partnership for training material development on Water-Diplomacy for Cap-Net.
