Planning Workshop: Capacity Building for Water Utilities in Water Resources Management, Nairobi, Kenya.
Cap-Net and UN-HABITAT are collaborating to address the issue of effectictive and efficient water resources management within water supply and sanitation utilities. The expected programme will build on the developing Water Operators Partnership managed by UN-HABITAT and the capacity building experience of Cap-Net and its partner networks.
This workshop is planned to reflect on the findings of the case studies carried out by Cap-Net partners. The purpose of the workshop is to build on the results of the case studies and other experience of participants to develop a series of capacity building material and to plan a programme of capacity development actions for utilities with the aim of improving water resources management and the efficiency of delivery of sustainable water and sanitation services.
The specific objectives of the workshop are to:
analyse the major issues and opportunities arising for utilities with the implementation of IWRM;
compile experience on water resources management in utilities, and
use the information to develop a series of capacity building material and implement a programme of capacity building action.
