	Conflict Resolution and Negotiation Skills for IWRM A training manual with presentations and resource materials on how IWRM can help addressing conflicts and improve negotiations regarding water use. The materials is based on experiences in training on the subject in various courses organised by network members in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
	Economics in Sustainable Water Management This CD contains a training manual, presentations and resource materials in four languages on economic and financial instruments for water management. The development of the package has been a joint effort of Cap-Net, GWP, LA-WETnet, UNESCO-IHE and Caribbean WaterNet, with support from the EU Water Initiative - Finance Water Group.
	IWRM for River Basin Organisations With the aim to contribute to improving the efficiency and effectiveness in the application of IWRM for sustainable management of water resources Cap-Net, UNESCO-IHE and partner networks developed this training package. The CD contains a training manual on the subject as well as presentations and background material suggested for further reading.
	E- Library and ToolBox. This CD contains a copy of all the materials on the Cap-Net web site: Training materials; Water Management Instruments; Network Management Tools; Training Courses; Resource Centres; and References. In collaboration with GWP the CD also includes the GWP ToolBox with its collection of case studies and description of important water management areas.
	IWRM Tutorial. The CD has a self learning tutorial on integrated water resources management. It is attractively laid out in Powerpoint format and suitable for adaptation for teaching purposes. The CD contains the tutorial in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
	Why Gender Matters. Explaining why gender is important to water managers this CD is in the format of a tutorial. It addresses the importance of a gender approach in Agriculture, water supply and sanitation, and water resource management. The CD was produced with the Gender and Water Alliance.
	IWRM Plans. The CD contains a training manual, Powerpoint presentations and resource materials to carry out training on preparing water resource management plans. Produced by Cap-Net and GWP.
	Water Demand Management. Produced by IUCN with support from Sida and IDRC the CD contains training and resource materials on water demand management.
	Gender Resource Guide. A large collection of materials addressing gender and water. The CD was developed from a UNDP gender toolbox by the Gender and Water Alliance.
	Urban Flood Management. Carlos Tucci. (English, Spanish, pdf, Word) Aimed at decision-makers, professionals of various fields of knowledge, working in the field of the urban environment as administrators, legislators, engineers, architects, geologists, biologists and others. The book aims to present a comprehensive view of the management of urban rainwater, which will also include urban drainage and river flooding in cities. This text is broad and tackles a number of economic, social, environmental and climatic situations, it does not address all the issues of the topic, but it does show how to include innovative solutions based on fundamental principles of sustainable development. 	Application of IWRM in the Arab Region. This regional manual addresses priority development issues in the region to reach different groups of water stakeholders. It covers 16 modules addressing technical, socio-economic, institutional and legal dimensions of IWRM challenges in the region, in addition to a crosscutting module on gender and poverty alleviation within IWRM. It covers three main sections: Water Governance (Policy, laws, institutions, stakeholders and capacity building) Water Uses (Agriculture, water supply and sanitation and the environment) and Water Management Tools (planning, analysis, groundwater, economics, paying for water, raising awareness, etc.). 	Water Resources Assessment in Sub-Saharan Africa. Prediction in Ungauged Basins. The CD contains: - Reader on prediction of water resources in data scarce basins together with a list of freely available internet data sources - Stand-alone hydrology refresher course, Vicaire, which is accessible on internet (free) but also runs from the CD. It consists of basic hydrology, hydraulic engineering and water resources management. - Public domain software packages like PCRaster (Dynamic environmental software package) - Exercises and solutions - Relevant literature and scientific articles. Integrated Urban Flood Management

Welcome back to Hong Chern Wern

hong Cap-Net welcomes Hong Chern Wern back to Pretoria. Prior to this Hong has joined the Cap-Net Secretariat in the year 2009 for a 3 month internship. Hong has assisted in the identification of indicators to measure outcomes and impacts of capacity building activities in IWRM more specifically activities implemented by Cap-Net and the associated networks. His secondary assignment was to update the Cap-Net website on regular basis including the monthly Cap-Net newsletter

Hong obtained his PhD in Resource Management and Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Technology from Universiti Sains Malaysia. He was also a Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) scholarship recipient for his MSc in Urban Environmental Management in Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.

Hong has been and still a member of Water Watch Penang which is a network member of MyCBNet for the past 7 years. During the past 7 years, Hong has held the position of Vice President, committee member, and facilitator. Hong has been actively involved in monthly river and water education activities for schools, ToT for Teachers in River Monitoring activities and World Water Day celebration. In addition to that, Hong has been part of the successful first national ‘Negalitres’ Water Demand Management pilot project with partnership from the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) of Penang, Malaysia. The project involved installation of rainwater harvesting tanks, water saving equipments, water demand management and awareness workshops with an objective of at least 30% reduction in water consumption in condominium units.

Hong’s main responsibility in Cap-Net will be in identifying, soliciting and editing information for the Cap-Net web site on capacity development for sustainable water management. More specifically, Hong will bring up to date the various sections of the site and recommend improvements on its look and feel. This assignment will include liaison with partner networks and international partners to ensure that their information and data are properly reflected on the Cap-Net site. Hong will also spend a proportion of time to assist and get acquainted with the work of the global network to be put to use for the development of the network.

He loves travelling and learning new cultures. He is also fluent in Malay and Indonesian language as well as conversational Mandarin Chinese and Japanese. We look forward to an exciting time again with Hong who is big fan of Manchester United Football Club. Hong can be contacted at hong@cap-net.org
