The Department of Civil Engineering offers an MSc degree programme in Integrated Water Resources Management. This post-graduate degree programme deals with water resources management in Southern Africa, and addresses the challenges created by the increasing complexities and the recent and on-going reforms of the water sector in many Southern African countries.

International Water Law Research Institute
The International Water Law Research Institute (IWLRI) promotes academic research, postgraduate teaching, advisory services and professional training in the area of international and national law of water resources. The core components are combined in an integrated research and academic programme, drawing from the synergy of research and work of academics and honorary associates, the annual international water seminar, in-country professional training seminars and advisory services for governments, private companies and firms and international organisations.


 

IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre
IRC facilitates the sharing, promotion and use of knowledge so that governments, professionals and organisations can better support poor men, women and children in developing countries to obtain water and sanitation services they will use and maintain. IRNR Insitute of Renewable Natural Resources, KNUST, Ghana

IWMI. International Water Management Institute
The International Water Management Institute is a nonprofit scientific research organization focusing on the sustainable use of water and land resources in agriculture and on the water needs of developing countries. IWMI works with partners in the South to develop tools and methods to help these countries eradicate poverty through more effective management of their water and land resources.

Netherlands Water Partnership
The Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) promotes Dutch expertise and experience in the field of capacity building and human resources development, institutional strengthening, consultancy, design, contracting, supply of goods and financing worldwide. NWP is seen as the 'national' discussion partner for bodies like the World Water Council (WWC) and the Global Water Partnership (GWP) and provides a single means of access to the entire range of products and services offered by the Dutch water sector.


 

NETWAS Network for Water and Sanitation International
NETWAS is a capacity building and information network for Africa focusing on water, sanitation and environment sector. It is comprised of resource centres in Eastern Africa implementing capacity building activities on training of professionals, applied research, networking and information sharing, advocacy, advisory and consultancy services. The centres consist of a regional center NETWAS International and two national centers - NETWAS Uganda and NETWAS Tanzania. NETWAS International which is situated in Nairobi, Kenya also plays the double role of NETWAS Kenya and the regional office.

The WWF College
The WWF College for Conservation Leadership is part of WWF International’s service to the global network. The college is an interactive learning network. UNU/INWEH
The International Network on Water, Environment and Health(UNU/INWEH) is a new member of the U.N. University family of organizations. Its purpose is to strengthen water management capacity, particularly of developing countries, and to provide on-the-ground project support.

Water Research Commission
The WRC provides extensive funding for research on water in South Africa. The web site is a focal point for information and publications on the south Africa and southern Africa situation including much on water resources management. There is an extensive data base on water literature, free for South Africans but US$500 for others.


 

Water Training - agriculture
FAO, in close cooperation with ICID, gives access to compiled information from various training and educational institutes worldwide and establised a database on available training courses. Topics are: irrigation, drainage and flood control.


 

Watershed Academy Web
This Web site offers a variety of self-paced training modules that represent a basic and broad introduction to the watershed management field. The modules are organized around six themes which vary in the time they take to complete, from ½ hour to 2 hours.


 

WELL
WELL is the DFID-funded resource centre promoting environmental health and well-being in developing and transitional countries. WELL resources include a range of publications, from technical briefs to full consultancy reports available in print or online. There is also an online library catalogue of publications comprising around 10,000 library records of items relating to water and environmental health, and an online catalogue of images.
