Aquadoc-Inter
Aquadoc-Inter aims to build a network of national information centres for water, notably those participating in the International Network of Basin Organisations (INBO).
The web site provides a search facility to documents and institutional information in several european countries.


AQUASTAT
AQUASTAT is FAO's global information system on water and agriculture developed by the Land and Water Development Division of FAO. The objective of AQUASTAT is to provide users with comprehensive information on the state of agricultural water management across the world, with emphasis on developing countries and countries in transition. The information system consists of country profiles, regional reviews, water resources by country, links and online documents on water and agriculture.


CEPIS Virtual Library on Health and Environment
The Virtual Library on Health and Environment, BVSA, puts together in an Internet site a structured set of information sources for those interested in information on evaluation and control of environmental risk factors that affect the health of the population. It constitutes the effective response to the needs of information of Latin American and Caribbean countries.
Although primarily devoted to environmental health, the information base has many documents related to water. Several kinds of search are possible, many documents can be downloaded. The site is in Spanish, Portuguese and English.

GEMSTAT
This data base of surface and ground- water quality information promises to be a good resource and new information is regularly being added. There will be a possibility of accessing the information in various formats. Most regions of the world have some information although the largest contribution to the data base is from the north.


Globwinet
The Global Water Information Network provides access to information on materials, organisations and people in water management. The data base is thin for some countries but being continuously added to. Find many documents plus information on river basin organisations, water policy and legislation, water sector reform and prevention of conflicts over water use.

 


GRDC Global Runoff Data Centre
The GRDC operates under the auspices of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). It closely cooperates with other UN-agencies, International organisations and research institutes. Major activities of the GRDC include the collection and dissemination of river discharge data on global scale, and the provision of data products and specialised services for the research community, water managers and water-related programmes of the specialised agencies of the United Nations (UN).


GREEN Global Rivers Environmental Education Network
The Resources section of the GREEN website provides links to information on this website and many other sites to assist you in multiple aspects of watershed protection and youth involvement. Each resource category contains links and/or materials that can be downloaded or read online.


IES AND MEWIN
The Institute for Environmental Studies (IES), University of Pennsylvania has taken under its aegis MEWIN (Middle East Water Information Network) the Middle East Water Database, containing some 10,000 catalogued entries. IES has transformed the database into a web-accessible bibliography open to all users anywhere in the world without charge. The current range of sources in the database encompassing such topics as hydrology, geography, science and technology, economics, population, politics, law, management, and strategic affairs. Quick retrieval of bibliographical information is facilitated by the variety of ways entries can be searched.


IUCN Water Resources and Wetlands e-Atlas
This site has useful maps of water related issues such as land use, fish species, wetlands, dams, water scarcity and so on. It is being improved regularly with new data.


National Institutes for Water Resources (U.S.)
This web site provides contact details of water resources research institutes in each of the states of the U.S., the District of Colombia, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Guam.

 

 


ToolBox, Integrated Water Resources Management.
The ToolBox draws together a wealth of experience and expertise in IWRM. Its aim is to support water professionals and policy makers on how to establish integrated water resources management in the real world.
The ToolBox contains good descriptions of all elements of IWRM and provides many case studies and references. An excellent reference point.


Transboundary Freshwater Dispute Database
The Transboundary Freshwater Dispute Database (TFDD) was developed as an aid in the process of water conflict prevention and resolution. TFDD is a project of the Oregon State University Department of Geosciences, in collaboration with the Northwest Alliance for Computational Science and Engineering.

Click on the thematic portal FRESHWATER for key issues and search for all type of resources on all topics on freshwater. Browse Freshwater publications from UNEP and other major international organisations.


Water and Sanitation
UNICEF has established a data base on water and sanitation. There is extensive information by country on access to water supply and sanitation plus morbidity and mortality statistics.

This is a multidisciplinary database of research, researchers and institutions dealing with fresh water issues all over the world.The structure of the database is built around research projects and literature connected to thematic keywords, countries of research, watersheds, researchers and institutions.


Water Resources Development and Management Service
This FAO Water Resources, Development and Management Service promotes efficient use and conservation of water resources to achieve food security and sustainable agriculture and rural development.
The site has a wealth of information including many publications on water and water management models for crops.
