Cap-Net Lanka – PGIA Junior Water Awards for Innovations and Knowledge Management (Aqua Republica) 2017, and Water Professionals’ Day Symposium 2017

The Cap-Net Lanka – PGIA Junior Water Awards for Innovations and Knowledge Management (Aqua Republica) 2017 was held on 2nd October 2017 at the ‘Appadurai Auditorium’, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya in parallel to the Water Professionals’ Day Symposium 2017.

This year, Junior Water Awards for Innovations and Knowledge Management was conducted in schools from the Northern Province and the best water related projects were awarded with plaques and certificates at the Water Professionals’ Day Symposium on the 02nd October 2017. The Aqua Republica programme was conducted in schools from the Central Province and highest scorers were awarded with trophies and certificates at the Symposium.

A total of 68 school children from both Northern and Central Provinces and 65 water professionals from all over the country participated in the symposium.

Cap-Net Lanka-PGIA Junior Water Awards for Innovations and Knowledge Management in the Northern Province was coordinated by Dr. S. Pathmarajah, Country Coordinator of Cap-Net Lanka and Co-coordinated by Prof. (Ms.) Thushyanthy Mikunthan, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna. Aqua Republica 2017 was coordinated by Prof. MIM Mowjood, Head, Department of Agric. Engineering, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya. The school children were trained on Aqua Republica by the Final Year Undergraduate Students of the Faculty of Agriculture who were trained by Cap-Net Lanka on a previous occasion.
