WASH Training of Trainers  Programme for Local Animators

On 24 October 2019, a half-day programme to evaluate the outcomes of the ‘Training of Trainers’ training programme for implementation of Hygiene Education and Promotion at rural level was organized by Cap-Net Lanka in collaboration with World Vision Lanka (WVL).  The programme was based on both written feedback and discussions on opportunities and constraints for knowledge sharing. Dr. S. Pathmarajah, Country Coordinator, Cap-Net Lanka coordinated the programme.

Hands-on training on Aqua Republica game

On 30 October and 8 November, Cap-Net Lanka held a hands-on trainings for School children and teachers in Anuradhapura and Kandy Districts in Sri Lanka. IWRM students of the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture served as resource persons.

Capacity building of the leaders of community-based water societies

On 23 and 30 November, two programmes were organised in collaboration with Cap-Net Lanka and WASO Project of the University of Jaffna for the leaders of the community-based water societies in Badulla and Nuwara Eliya Districts. Four persons from the areas of engineering, human resources and IWRM served as resource persons.

Watershed Management for Hill Country in Sri Lanka

On 25-26 November, a two-day residential workshop on “Watershed Management for Hill Country in Sri Lanka” was organised by Cap-Net Lanka in collaboration with World Vision Lanka at Sathyodaya Educational Training Centre, Kandy.

Cap-Net Lanka – PGIA Junior Water Awards for innovations and knowledge management  (Aqua Republica) 2019 

On 28 November, St. Sylvester’s College, Kandy and Rambewa Central College, Anuradhapura, from Sri Lanka were awarded Aqua Republica contest – 2019 winners. Trophies and certificates were given by the Director PGIA at a Symposium on “Urban Water and Coastal Zone Management” at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI). Students of Rambewa Central College have obtained a score of 246,858 which was the highest score achieved since the competition was introduced in Sri Lanka by Cap-Net Lanka in 2016.
