Aqua Republica: Piloting Serious Gaming for Water Education, 18th -19th September 2015, Kenya

WaterCap in collaboration with UNEP-DHI piloted Aqua Republica serious gaming (Cap-Net version) with secondary schools students in Nairobi, Kenya. Students from Shree Cutchi Leva Patel School and Sunshine Secondary School participated in the piloting of the Aqua Republica game on 18th September 2015, followed by a teacher workshop on 19th September. The activity aimed at introducing sustainable water education in a fun way to children in the age bracket 13-18 years. Specifically, the game aims at creating awareness about the fragility of the existing water resources and introducing them to the IWRM concept. A competition for all participating school will be held on 17th October 2015.

The participants appreciated Aqua Republica as a continuous and flexible online learning tool, not only suited for the target group but enabling young people to understand the wider concepts of water but also the effects of their own behavior on the ecosystem.
